Frequently asked questions

What does Reiki feel like?

Each experience of Reiki is unique. Sometimes people report feeling hot or cold, tingling sensations, seeing colours or nothing at all. It is normal to fall asleep during a treatment. Reiki gives you whatever you need in the moment to bring you back into balance. There can be releases of emotion and moments of insight.

What is the difference between in-person and distant Reiki?

The energy is the same. Some people find they prefer one method over the other. With distant Reiki the practitioner connects to the client’s energy using the Reiki symbols then administers the treatment just the same as they would in-person. During a distant treatment client and practitioner are able to communicate throughout.

How is the treatment given?

We have a chat about what brought you to have a treatment. You remove your outdoor coat and shoes. The treatment is given with the recipient fully clothed lying or sitting on a treatment couch. Reiki works through clothing. Wear comfortable clothing so you are not restricted when receiving your treatment. A towel will be placed over your clothes if you are receiving an in-person treatment as the temperature can drop during a healing.

Do I need to do anything after my treatment?

It is helpful to rest afterwards to let the energy settle and integrate. Drink plenty of water. Sometimes people experience temporary detox type symptoms such as increased bowel and bladder movements. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours. A healthy snack can help if you feel lightheaded after the treatment .
